Ghanaian stars shine across Europe as Semenyo, Nartey and Abagna find the net

Ghanaian footballers once again delivered notable performances for their respective clubs across Europe and beyond over the weekend, with several players finding the scoresheet while others played key roles for their teams in various leagues.

England

Forward Antoine Semenyo continued his red-hot form for Manchester City, scoring his 14th league goal of the season to secure a narrow 1-0 victory away to Leeds United in the Premier League.

In the EFL Championship, Patrick Agyemang played the full match for Derby County as they edged Blackburn Rovers 1-0.

Leicester City suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Norwich City, with Fatawu Issahaku completing the entire match while Jordan Ayew made a substitute appearance.

Norwich midfielder Forson Amankwah missed the clash due to injury.

At Fratton Park, Darko Gyebi remained unavailable through injury as Hull City claimed a valuable 1-0 away win over Portsmouth.

Coventry City defeated Stoke City 2-1, with both Brandon Thomas-Asante and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi introduced from the bench for their respective teams.

Southampton beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1, though Ghanaian defender Joshua Quarshie was an unused substitute for the Saints.

Defender James Abankwah played the full 90 minutes for Watford as they secured an impressive 2-1 away win over Bristol City, while teammate Kwadwo Baah was not included in the squad.

In EFL League One, Jordi Osei-Tutu featured throughout the match for Bolton Wanderers as they thrashed Exeter City 5-1.

Andy Yiadom came on in the second half to help Reading secure a 2-1 win over Bradford City.

Elsewhere, Malachi Boateng played the entire match for Plymouth Argyle but could not stop their 1-0 loss to Rotherham United.

Veteran winger Albert Adomah made a late appearance for Walsall in their 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town.

Goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott remained on the bench for Crawley Town in their 2-0 defeat to Oldham Athletic.

Spain

Kwesi Sibo played the entire match for Real Oviedo, who narrowly lost 1-0 to Atlético Madrid.

Defender Joseph Aidoo completed the full match as Celta Vigo secured a valuable 2-1 away victory over Girona FC.

Midfielder Thomas Partey was an unused substitute as FC Barcelona defeated Villarreal CF 4-1.

In the Segunda División, Obeng Gyabaa came on in the second half for Albacete Balompié in their 1-1 draw with UD Almería, while Iddrisu Baba entered the match in the 41st minute.

Young defender Oscar Naasei Oppong played 67 minutes for Granada CF in their 1-0 defeat to Málaga CF.

Michael Agbekpornu remained on the bench as SD Huesca lost 1-0 to Real Valladolid.

Germany

Nikolas Nartey got on the scoresheet for VfB Stuttgart in their emphatic 4-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg. Jonas Adjei Adjetey came on as a substitute for the visitors.

Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer featured for 69 minutes for Hamburger SV but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Ragnar Ache completed the full match for 1. FC Köln in their 2-0 loss to FC Augsburg.

At the BayArena, Jarell Quansah scored a late equaliser for Bayer Leverkusen in their 1-1 draw against Mainz 05, while Ernest Poku played 59 minutes.

Derrick Köhn and Ilyas Ansah featured for Union Berlin in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Sirlord Conteh was an unused substitute as 1. FC Heidenheim fell 2-0 to Werder Bremen.

Kofi Amoako played 56 minutes for Dynamo Dresden in their 3-1 win over SV Darmstadt 98, a match that saw Patric Pfeiffer sent off.

Benjamin Boakye made a brief appearance for Arminia Bielefeld in their 1-0 loss to Hannover 96.

Aaron Opoku featured for 73 minutes for Eintracht Braunschweig in a 2-1 defeat to Preußen Münster.

Richmond Tachie played 57 minutes for 1. FC Magdeburg in their 3-1 loss to Karlsruher SC.

Italy

Forward Caleb Ekuban played 60 minutes for Genoa CFC but could not prevent a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Inter Milan.

Ibrahim Sulemana impressed with 87 minutes for Cagliari Calcio in their 1-1 draw with Parma Calcio.

Kamaldeen Sulemana featured for 45 minutes for Atalanta BC in their 2-1 defeat to US Sassuolo.

In Serie B, Emmanuel Gyasi remained on the bench as Palermo FC lost 2-1 to US Pescara.

France

Alidu Seidu was an unused substitute as Stade Rennais edged Toulouse FC 1-0.

Kojo Peprah Oppong completed the entire match for Paris FC in their narrow 1-0 victory over OGC Nice, while Salis Abdul Samed remained on the bench.

FC Lorient drew 2-2 with AJ Auxerre, with Nathaniel Adjei unused for Lorient while Elisha Owusu and Gideon Mensah featured for the visitors.

Terry Yegbe stayed on the bench as FC Metz lost 1-0 to Stade Brestois 29.

In Ligue 2, Augustine Boakye delivered an outstanding display, providing two assists in AS Saint-Étienne’s commanding 3-0 win over Pau FC.

In the Eredivisie, Tyrone Owusu featured for SC Telstar in their 3-0 victory over NAC Breda, where veterans André Ayew and Gilbert Sowah appeared for the visitors.

Jayden Oduro played for AZ Alkmaar in their 2-0 defeat to FC Utrecht, while Ibrahim Sadiq remained on the bench.

In Turkey, Jerome Opoku completed the full match for İstanbul Başakşehir in their 2-0 win over Konyaspor.

Godfried Frimpong played the entire game for Kasımpaşa in their 3-0 loss to Çaykur Rizespor, while Nicholas Opoku remained on the bench.
