The Ghana national football team have arrived in Stuttgart, turning the page on a bruising night in Vienna as they prepare for a high-profile friendly against Germany national football team.

Friday’s 5-1 defeat to Austria exposed glaring frailties in Ghana’s setup, particularly at the back, where a second-half collapse undid what had initially been a competitive showing.

Despite a spirited start, the Black Stars were ultimately overwhelmed, conceding four times after the break. Captain Jordan Ayew managed a late consolation, offering little more than a footnote on an otherwise sobering evening.

Addo sounds alarm as defensive frailties haunt Ghana in Austria humbling

Now, focus shifts swiftly to Monday’s encounter, scheduled for 18:45 GMT, as Ghana continues its build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Stuttgart camp presents an opportunity for head coach Otto Addo and his players to regroup, recalibrate, and respond.

Training intensity is expected to increase over the weekend, with the technical team keen to iron out the defensive vulnerabilities that Austria so ruthlessly exposed. Beyond tactical adjustments, there is also a clear need for greater cohesion and mental resilience as Ghana prepares to face one of world football’s most decorated sides.

The clash with Germany offers more than just another friendly, it is a stern examination of character, organisation, and progress.

For the Black Stars, it is a chance to restore belief and demonstrate tangible growth ahead of the global stage.
