It was another eventful weekend for Ghanaian footballers plying their trade across the globe, with several players finding the net, others delivering key contributions, and one major injury comeback offering a timely boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Headlines performers

Leading the charge was Joseph Paintsil, who struck for LA Galaxy in their 1-1 stalemate with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer. In China, Yaw Yeboah delivered a standout display, scoring in Qingdao Hainiu’s impressive 3-1 victory over Shanghai Port.

Belgium also witnessed a Ghanaian impact, as Joseph Opoku got on the scoresheet in Waregem’s thrilling 3-2 win against Cercle Brugge. Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, Christopher Baah-Bonsu turned provider with an assist in Al Qadsiah’s 3-1 triumph over Al Nassr.

In Turkey, Daniel Agyei was on target for Kocaelispor in their 1-1 draw with Kasimpasa, continuing a productive spell in front of goal.

Long-awaited return

One of the most encouraging developments came in France, where Ernest Nuamah made his long-anticipated return from injury.

The 22-year-old winger featured in Olympique Lyonnais’ 4-2 win over Rennes, marking his first appearance since April 5, 2025, following a serious ACL injury that sidelined him for over a year.

England

In the Championship, Jordan Ayew played a role in Leicester City’s narrow 1-0 victory over Blackburn.

Amankwah Forson featured for Norwich in their 2-1 defeat to Hull, while Brandon Thomas-Asante impressed with 87 minutes in Coventry’s emphatic 4-0 win against Watford.

Elsewhere, Kelvin Abrefa and Albert Adomah both saw action in League One and League Two respectively, despite their sides suffering defeats.

Spain

In La Liga, Thomas Partey made a brief appearance for Villarreal in their commanding 5-1 win over Levante.

Inaki Williams featured for Athletic Bilbao in their entertaining 4-2 victory against Alaves.

In the lower tier, Samuel Obeng helped Albacete secure a 1-0 win, while several others, including Mawuli Mensah and Yussif Saidu, were involved in tightly contested fixtures.

Italy

Caleb Ekuban and Ibrahim Sulemana both featured in Serie A clashes that ended in draws, representing Genoa and Cagliari respectively.

In Serie B, Edwin Gyasi played a key role in Palermo’s 3-2 win over Catanzaro.

France

There were strong Ghanaian performances in Ligue 1, with Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu shining for Auxerre in their 3-1 win over Angers.

Nathaniel Adjei was involved in Lorient’s draw with PSG, while Alidu Seidu put in a solid shift for Rennes.

Salis Abdul Samed and Kwame Peprah featured for Nice in their 1-1 draw with Lens.

Germany & Austria

In Germany, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer played the full match in Hamburger’s 2-1 win over Frankfurt.

Austria saw Kelvin Boateng emerge as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in Austria Vienna’s 1-0 victory over Hartberg. Edmund Baidoo also featured for Salzburg.

Asia highlights

Beyond Yeboah’s goal in China, Frank Acheampong delivered a full 90-minute performance for Dalian Yingbo, helping secure a 1-0 win. Abdul Aziz Yakubu also completed the full match for Qingdao West Coast in a 1-1 draw.

In Saudi Arabia, Baah-Bonsu’s assist proved crucial in a high-profile win over Al Nassr.

Other notable contributions

In Greece, Abdul Baba Rahman delivered a full 90-minute performance in PAOK’s 3-1 win over Olympiacos.

Across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, multiple Ghanaian players were involved in league action, with consistent minutes and competitive displays reflecting the country’s growing footprint in global football.
