Heart of Lions owner Dr Randy Abbey has challenged his team to be more ruthless in front of goal despite their promising start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Kpando-based outfit has been one of the season’s surprise packages so far, occupying second place on the league table with 11 points from their opening five matches. Under the guidance of experienced coach Bashir Hayford, the Lions have netted six times and conceded only twice, an impressive balance, but one their owner believes can still be improved.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Dr Abbey admitted he has been pleased with the team’s progress but stressed the need for greater efficiency in attack.
“It has been good. I have not watched any of their games, but if you look at how they finished last season, they have continued from there,” he said.
“The only issue is that we have to be more clinical in goalscoring, which I believe the technical team will be working on, but they have been good, but we expect more from them, especially in the area of goalscoring.”

Dr Abbey, who also chairs the Black Stars Management Committee, praised the team’s consistency and resilience, highlighting their unbeaten run as a sign of steady growth.
Heart of Lions are one of only two sides yet to lose a match this season, and they’ll aim to extend that streak when they visit Bibiani GoldStars at DUN’s Park on Monday for their Matchday 6 encounter.
A win there would not only keep their momentum alive, but also send a strong message that the Lions are no longer just survivors, they’re contenders.
