Prosper Narteh Ogum has voiced strong belief in Ghana’s chances at the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, insisting the Black Starlets possess the quality and mentality required to challenge every side in the tournament.
Ghana open their Group D journey against Algeria later today at the Mohammed VI Football Academy, with kick-off slated for 19:00 GMT.
Speaking ahead of the crucial opener, the former Asante Kotoko trainer highlighted the chemistry and resilience within his squad, stressing that the players are united and ready for the task ahead.
“This team has a good balance of talent, discipline, teamwork and determination. The players understand each other very well, and they are prepared to fight for one another on the pitch,” he told CAFOnline.

Ogum further pointed to the team’s development in recent weeks, noting that the Starlets have made important strides tactically while also showing maturity mentally.
“Technically, we have quality, tactically, we are improving steadily, and mentally the players are showing maturity. These qualities give us confidence that we can compete strongly against any team in the tournament,” he added.
The Black Starlets are drawn in a demanding Group D that also includes defending champions Senegal and South Africa.
Beyond aiming for continental success, Ghana will also be pushing to secure one of the qualification slots available for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year.
