Asante Kotoko say they are braced for their next continental hurdle, with club director Sarfo Duku insisting the Porcupine Warriors have nothing to fear when they square off with Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Kumasi giants booked their place in the second preliminary round after edging Nigeria’s Kwara United 5-3 on aggregate. Their reward is a mouthwatering showdown against Moroccan heavyweights Wydad, one of Africa’s most consistent clubs on the continental stage.

But Duku remains bullish about Kotoko’s prospects, drawing confidence from past encounters between the two sides.

“We have history against Wydad Athletic Club,” he told Asempa FM. “We have played against them twice, and we were just unlucky, and for me, this year is a revival for Asante Kotoko, and I am confident we can overcome WAC.”

The two-legged tie will be staged later in October, with the opening clash penciled in between 17-19 October and the return leg set for 24-26 October.

While continental football remains a top priority, Kotoko must quickly refocus on domestic duties. The Reds resume Ghana Premier League action this weekend when they welcome Heart of Lions to the Baba Yara Stadium on Matchday 4.
