Andre Ayew could be on the verge of a return to European football, with the experienced forward currently in the Netherlands undergoing medical examinations ahead of a possible move to a top-tier club.

While the identity of the club remains under wraps, sources close to the former Ghana captain suggest negotiations have reached an advanced stage. The deal is believed to hinge primarily on the successful completion of routine medical checks as clubs prepare for the second phase of the season.

Ayew has been unattached since the start of the campaign but is eager to resume competitive action. In the meantime, the 36-year-old has kept himself in shape back home in Ghana, training regularly with Nania FC, the club owned by his father, Abedi Pele.

Despite those sessions, a return to Europe is viewed as the most realistic pathway back into high-intensity football.

The move is also seen as strategic for Ayew’s international ambitions. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the veteran attacker is keen to put himself back on the radar of the Black Stars technical team. He has not featured for Ghana in over a year, his most recent appearance coming at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Ayew’s pedigree remains unquestioned. His last club outing was with Le Havre in Ligue 1, and his résumé includes high-profile stints at Marseille, West Ham United, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest.

Should the Netherlands move be finalized, it would mark another chapter in a career defined by longevity, leadership and top-level experience.
