Career

Issahaku Fatawu’s journey started in Ghana’s Division One with Steadfast FC, where he rose to prominence almost immediately.

A short but impactful stint on loan at Dreams FC helped sharpen his game before Sporting CP secured his signature in 2022. The following year, he made the switch to Leicester City.

Since then, the dynamic winger has steadily evolved from a promising local talent into a key figure for the Foxes, charting a remarkable rise from Ghana’s grassroots football to the bright lights of the Premier League.

Fatawu’s rise has been decorated with a string of personal honours. He dominated the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, sweeping both the tournament’s Best Player award and a place in the Best XI. His move to England brought further recognition, he claimed Leicester City’s Men’s Young Player of the Season award for 2023–24 after a breakout campaign.

His résumé also features the EFL Championship’s Goal of the Month, a Ghana Premier League Player of the Month crown from November 2021, along with two notable national honours in 2021: the SWAG Discovery of the Year and the Odartey Lamptey Future Star Award.

International Career

On the international stage, Fatawu burst onto the scene by helping Ghana’s U-20 side clinch the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
