Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has underlined he is thrilled to be back among the goals and has reassured fans that his late substitution in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Birmingham City on Friday was nothing serious.

The Ghanaian winger, who endured an eight-month layoff through injury, has now scored in consecutive Championship matches, underlining his growing influence for the Foxes. Last weekend, his lone strike sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Charlton Athletic’s Valley, and he followed it up with another decisive performance at the King Power Stadium.

Speaking to the press after the game, the 21-year-old credited his teammates and Leicester’s backroom staff for supporting his comeback.

“It’s just all about the team and how we support each other, and I am just happy, and we look forward after the break and we go again. I just want to say thank you to the medical team, they do it all in all the team, the support from the team and my teammates. It’s just a blessing to be back like this and running again, and I must say it is a good feeling,” he said.

Fatawu was withdrawn in the 88th minute after going down in discomfort, sparking concern among Leicester supporters. However, the former Sporting Lisbon prodigy dismissed any suggestions of a setback, explaining that his exit was purely precautionary.

“It’s just cramps, tired, match fitness, match fitness but getting there,” he assured.

Despite his impressive return to form, Issahaku will not feature in Ghana’s upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, with coach Otto Addo opting to give the winger more time to fully regain match sharpness.
