Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says he is relishing every moment of his Leicester City journey after his stunning strike against Charlton Athletic earned him the English Championship Goal of the Month for August.

The 21-year-old’s thunderous effort at The Valley proved decisive in the Foxes’ victory and has now been recognised as the standout goal of the month across the division.

Speaking to the club media after receiving the gong, the former Sporting Lisbon man could not hide his delight.

“I’m really pleased and very proud to have won Goal of the Month. That goal was special, especially after missing so much football last season,” Issahaku said.

The Ghana international was quick to credit his teammates and staff for their roles in his success.

“It wasn’t just down to me, though; the whole team played well that day. Charlton are a good side, but we fought hard and got the three points. Scoring that winner was a reward for all the effort. I always try to give everything, so it means a lot when I manage to score and help the team. Thanks to my teammates, the staff, all the fans, their belief drives me on. Let’s keep going and hopefully there are lots more moments like this ahead,” he concluded.

Issahaku has enjoyed a bright start to the campaign, already registering two goals and an assist in just five appearances.
