Footy-Ghana brings you a comprehensive report on how Ghanaian players abroad performed across various leagues worldwide over the weekend.

Ghanaian footballers plying their trade outside the country delivered a mixed bag of performances over the weekend, with goals, returns from injury, hard-fought minutes and standout displays across Europe and beyond.

England

Antoine Semenyo once again underlined his growing importance at Bournemouth after netting his eighth Premier League goal of the season. The Black Stars forward was on target in the Cherries’ 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday, continuing his impressive campaign in England’s top flight.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Mohammed Kudus featured for 58 minutes as Tottenham Hotspur suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Ghanaian stars shine across Europe and beyond: weekend round-up

In the Championship, it was a difficult outing for Leicester City’s Ghanaian duo Jordan Ayew and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who were involved in the Foxes’ heavy 4-1 loss to QPR.

Kwame Poku came off the bench to play six minutes for QPR, while Forson Amankwah logged 36 minutes for Norwich City in their 1-1 draw with Preston North End.

Spain

Kwasi Sibo marked his return to Real Oviedo’s starting lineup with a full 90-minute performance as they played out a stalemate against Celta Vigo in La Liga.

In La Liga II, Baba Iddrisu featured for Almeria but could not prevent a 2-1 defeat to Malaga.

Bernard Somuah stole the headlines in the Primera Federación, continuing his fine form for Celta Vigo II. The Asante Kotoko loanee scored the decisive goal as Celta Vigo II edged Real Madrid Castilla 1-0, a result that lifted them to second place and capped off the year on a winning note.

Italy

In Serie A, Caleb Ekuban played 67 minutes for Genoa in their narrow 1-0 loss to Atalanta.

The match also marked the return of Kamaldeen Sulemana from injury, with the winger featuring for 22 minutes in a welcome boost for club and country.

In Serie B, Alfred Duncan put in a solid shift, lasting 73 minutes as Venezia secured a 2-1 victory over Modena.

France

Nathaniel Adjei enjoyed a comfortable outing in the Coupe de France, playing the full 90 minutes as Lorient cruised to a commanding 7-0 win over AS Le Gosier.

Germany

Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer was in action for Hamburg, playing 87 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Frankfurt. Derrick Kohn completed the full match for Union Berlin, helping his side secure a vital 1-0 win over FC Köln.

In Bundesliga II, Patrick Pfeiffer featured for the entire game as Darmstadt settled for a 2-2 draw with Paderborn.

Albania

McCarthy Ofori delivered a full-shift performance for Bylis, contributing to their thrilling 3-2 victory over AF Elbasani.

Bismark Charles played 31 minutes for Vllaznia in their 1-1 draw against KF Tirana.

Belgium

Jerry Afriyie was on the pitch for 67 minutes for RAA La Louvière, though his side fell 2-1 to Westerlo.

Cyprus

Benson Anang made a brief 16-minute appearance as Akritas Chloraka edged Paralimni 1-0.

Clifford Aboagye also featured for Anorthosis in their drawn encounter against Olympiacos Nicosia.

Greece

Abdul Baba Rahman delivered a commanding display, playing the full 90 minutes as PAOK claimed an impressive 2-0 victory over Panathinaikos.

Israel

Kwabena Owusu was on the scoresheet for Maccabi Bnei Raina, though his goal came in a 3-1 defeat to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Matthew Cudjoe also found the net, helping Sakhnin to a convincing 3-0 win over SC Ashdod. Emmanuel Agyei completed the full match for Ashdod.

Netherlands

Serbia

Kwaku Karikari featured for Železničar in their 1-0 defeat to Radnički Niš. Ibrahim Tanko and Benjamin Acquah were both involved as Javor lost 2-1 to Vojvodina.

Daniel Akrofi made a brief appearance for IMT Novi Beograd in their surprise 1-0 win over Partizan, while Ibrahim Zubairu came on late to play eight minutes.

Switzerland

Jonas Adjetey put in a full shift for FC Basel in their 1-1 draw with Servette in the Swiss Super League.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi was between the posts for St. Gallen, playing a key role in their 2-1 win over Grasshoppers.

In the Swiss Challenge League, Daniel Afriyie scored a late goal for FC Aarau, but his effort was not enough as they fell 3-2 away to FC Vaduz on Friday night.

Turkey

Nicholas Opoku featured for Kasimpasa in their 3-0 defeat to Galatasaray, while Prince Obeng Ampem played 25 minutes for Eyupspor as they lost by the same scoreline to Fenerbahçe.

From Semenyo’s clinical finish in England to Somuah’s match-winning strike in Spain and Kamaldeen’s long-awaited return in Italy, Ghanaian players abroad once again left their footprints across the global football landscape.
