Ghana’s Black Stars will head into September’s World Cup qualifiers with a new face in the camp, as Derrick Arthur Köhn has finally received his long-awaited debut call-up.

The German-born left-back, who recently swapped Galatasaray for Union Berlin after an impressive Bundesliga campaign on loan at Werder Bremen, is among the standout inclusions in Otto Addo’s 26-man list to face Chad and Mali. At 26, Köhn arrives with the chance to lock down the left side of Ghana’s defence and prove his readiness for international football.

The squad also sees the return of Kamaldeen Sulemana, who has rediscovered his spark at Atalanta after leaving Southampton, and Elisha Owusu, now fully fit after a lengthy injury layoff at Auxerre.

As expected, Addo has kept faith with his established core: Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo, and Iñaki Williams all feature. Rising star Caleb Yirenkyi, however, earns his place on merit, rewarded for his sharp displays at FC Nordsjaelland and his eye-catching performance at the Unity Cup in London.

Elsewhere, Tariq Lamptey makes his way back into the fold, while Christopher Bonsu Baah and Ireland-based goalkeeper Joseph Anang are handed opportunities to stake their claims.

Ghana will first travel to face Chad on September 4 before welcoming Mali four days later, in what could prove decisive in shaping their route to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
