Former Ghana midfielder and PFAG Player Relations chief, Yusif Chibsah, has expressed concern about Albert Amoah’s recent transfer to Al Ahli Benghazi, suggesting the timing could make life difficult for the forward in Libya.
Amoah’s move came swiftly after Asante Kotoko’s bruising 5–1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup, a result that ended the Porcupine Warriors’ continental journey and left fans shocked by his sudden exit.

In an interview with Sporty FM, Chibsah noted that many Ghanaian footballers rush to North African leagues at moments that stunt their development rather than enhance it.
“Most players who move to North Africa do so at the wrong time, and that is why they struggle,” Chibsah cautioned. “I wish Albert Amoah well, but it will be difficult.”
The former Kotoko and Black Stars midfielder’s remarks come as Amoah prepares for a new chapter following an impressive stint in Kumasi.
The forward joined Kotoko from Great Olympics last season and quickly became a standout performer, scoring 16 goals in 30 league outings. His consistency and sharpness in front of goal made him a key figure in the club’s attack.

Amoah’s contributions weren’t limited to the domestic front, he also found the back of the net twice in four CAF Confederation Cup matches, proving instrumental before Kotoko’s early exit from the competition.
Now, with a challenging North African adventure on the horizon, all eyes will be on whether Amoah can adapt to the demands of Libyan football, or face the struggles Chibsah foresees.
