IFK Göteborg were forced to dig deep on Sunday afternoon as they battled to a gritty 0–0 draw against Djurgården in the Swedish Allsvenskan, a contest that saw Ghanaian defender Rockson Yeboah sent off midway through the second half.
The 21-year-old centre-back endured a rollercoaster evening at Tele2 Arena. After an assured first half in which he even threatened to score with a blocked effort inside the box, Yeboah’s fortunes took a sharp turn when he collected two yellow cards in quick succession, both for overzealous challenges, leaving his side a man down after 66 minutes.

From that point on, it was backs to the wall for Göteborg. Djurgården, buoyed by their numerical advantage, monopolized possession and pressed relentlessly, ending the match with 60% of the ball and 18 attempts on goal. Yet, despite their territorial dominance, they were repeatedly denied by a compact and resilient Göteborg back line that refused to yield.
The visitors, disciplined and organized, dug in admirably in the closing stages, repelling wave after wave of Djurgården attacks to preserve a valuable point. Their defensive grit stood out as much as their attacking frustration, given how the match had initially offered promise of more before Yeboah’s dismissal shifted the tone entirely.

For Göteborg, the stalemate feels equal parts relief and regret, relief for surviving a man short, but regret at what could have been had discipline held. The result keeps them within touching distance of mid-table safety as they now set their sights on their upcoming clash with IFK Norrköping on November 9.
