Black Stars Management Committee vice chairman, Stephen Appiah, has expressed immense joy after Ghana’s emphatic 5–0 demolition of the Central African Republic (CAR) in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier.

The match, staged at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès in Morocco, saw the Black Stars deliver a statement performance that moved them a step closer to confirming their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana ran riot with goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana, sealing one of their most dominant displays in recent memory.

Appiah, visibly elated after the game, admitted that while he had anticipated victory, the magnitude of the win came as a pleasant shock.

“I am so happy. The players have made us proud, and we are looking forward to Sunday,” he told Joy Sports.

“We are here because of the players. They have made us proud. Per what I saw at the two training sessions, I knew we were going to win, but I wasn’t expecting 5-0.”

The result keeps Ghana firmly on top of Group I, three points ahead of Madagascar, with just one match left to play.

The four-time African champions will now shift focus to their final qualifier against the Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The game, which kicks off at 19:00 GMT, offers Otto Addo’s men the chance to round off their qualification campaign in style and seal their return to the global stage.
