AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has offered a major boost ahead of the weekend, revealing that forward Antoine Semenyo is edging closer to full fitness and may feature against Sunderland.
The Ghanaian attacker sat out the Cherries’ 2-2 draw with West Ham after returning from international duty with a knock. Semenyo had been withdrawn from Ghana’s friendly against South Korea, having suffered the injury in their earlier match against Japan, prompting his early return to the club for assessment.

Speaking during Friday’s press briefing, Iraola explained that the 24-year-old has been undergoing a tailored training programme as he works back to match sharpness.
“We still have to train today, but he has been doing modified training with the team the previous days,” Iraola stated.
The manager remained cautiously optimistic but suggested the winger could be ready to rejoin the squad if he comes through their final session unscathed.
“If everything goes well today, I think he is going to be available for tomorrow, yes,” he added.
Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers so far this campaign, delivering six goals and three assists in just 11 Premier League appearances. His potential return comes at a crucial moment as the Cherries continue to build momentum in the season.
