Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has showered praise on team captain Jordan Ayew, commending the Leicester City striker for his outstanding leadership and immense contribution to Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ayew, who led from the front throughout the qualifying campaign, proved to be Ghana’s talisman, netting seven goals and assisting another seven in just ten matches. His decisive performances not only inspired the team on the pitch but also galvanized the dressing room during critical moments.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Addo spoke glowingly of the forward’s influence, highlighting both his professionalism and clarity of purpose.
“Since the day I came, he’s been good,” the 49-year-old coach stated. “I predominantly see him as a centre forward. He’s a great leader. The most important thing is that we have clarity and unity in the team.”
The 2026 tournament, which will be staged across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, will mark Ayew’s third World Cup appearance, following his outings in Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.
