Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has continued his hands-on approach to squad management by making a personal visit to Ernest Nuamah in France, underlining the winger’s importance to Ghana’s long-term ambitions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Addo stopped by Olympique Lyonnais to spend time with the 21-year-old attacker, who is currently on the road to recovery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in April 2025 during a Ligue 1 clash with Lille.
While the setback ruled Nuamah out for an extended period, his rehabilitation has taken a positive turn, with the winger recently resuming gym work as he edges closer to a return to the pitch.
During the visit, the Ghana coach held in-depth discussions with Nuamah about the Black Stars’ broader World Cup vision and offered personal support as the player continues his comeback. The meeting forms part of Addo’s wider engagement tour, which has seen him stay closely connected with core members of the national team, especially those battling injuries or working their way back to match fitness.

The approach reflects Addo’s determination to keep the squad united and focused as Ghana build towards the 2026 finals, set to be hosted jointly by Mexico, Canada and the United States.
Even with his season disrupted by injury, Nuamah has already left his mark on Ghana’s qualification campaign. The Lyon winger has featured five times in the ongoing qualifiers and found the net on two occasions, reinforcing his status as a key piece in the Black Stars’ attacking setup.
