Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko insists his side will get better with time, even after launching their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over newly-promoted Young Apostles on Sunday.

The Yellow and Mauves made a bright start to the season at the Tarkwa TNA Park, drawing first blood through Emmanuel Owusu’s well-taken strike in the 17th minute to settle early nerves. Despite holding the advantage at halftime, the former champions struggled to fully impose themselves in the first period.

Tanko’s men, however, returned from the break with renewed energy, tightening their grip on proceedings. Their persistence paid off when Paul Yeboah doubled the lead, sealing the victory and ensuring Medeama collected maximum points without conceding.

Speaking to the press after the match, Tanko admitted his team had not been at their fluent best, but emphasized the significance of securing both the win and a clean sheet.

“The performance was 50-50. We didn’t perform well in the first half of the match, but I think we did the most important thing by winning the game and also keeping a clean sheet. We will improve as the league unfolds,” he stated.

With their opening hurdle cleared, Medeama now shift focus to their next fixture, where they will welcome Vision FC to Tarkwa in Matchday two of the top-flight campaign.
