FC Magdeburg have moved swiftly to bolster their attacking ranks for the business end of the season, landing German-Ghanaian forward Richmond Tachie with the expectation that he can make an instant impact.

The club’s sporting director, Otmar Schork, believes the 26-year-old arrives with the right blend of experience and flexibility to fit seamlessly into Magdeburg’s attacking setup. Introducing the new recruit, Schork underlined Tachie’s readiness to slot in without the usual bedding-in period.

“Richmond is a player with experience in the second division who can be deployed in various attacking positions. We are convinced of his quality and believe he can help us in the second half of the season without a long adjustment period,” Schork said.

Standing at 1.78 metres and predominantly right-footed, Tachie is viewed as a mobile attacking option capable of operating across the frontline.

Magdeburg’s recruitment team see him as a plug-and-play addition, someone who can stretch defences with his speed, bring physical bite to duels, and offer a direct goal threat when the pressure is on.

Tachie’s footballing education traces back to Tennis Borussia Berlin, before he was absorbed into VfL Wolfsburg’s academy system, where he rose through the ranks to feature for the club’s U-23 side. His professional path since then has been shaped by a series of testing environments:

Viktoria Köln, Borussia Dortmund II, where he played a key role in their promotion to the 3. Liga in 2021, followed by spells at SC Paderborn and Eintracht Braunschweig on loan, before his most recent stint with FC Kaiserslautern.

Schork is confident the forward’s mix of athleticism, top-flight conditioning and proven end product will sharpen competition within the squad. More importantly for Magdeburg’s ambitions, Tachie’s arrival expands the tactical toolbox available to the coaching staff as the club looks to squeeze every possible point from the second half of the campaign.

With the margins tightening in the league, Magdeburg are banking on Tachie to bring fresh energy, new movement in the final third, and the kind of urgency that can tilt close games in their favour.
