Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has expressed immense pride and gratitude after making a commanding debut for the Black Stars in the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 27-year-old, drafted into the squad as a late call-up, was thrust straight into the starting lineup and repaid the faith shown in him with a composed performance as Ghana edged Mali 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday night.
Alexander Djiku, who recently sealed a move from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe to Spartak Moscow, powered home the game’s only goal, ensuring the Black Stars tightened their grip at the top of Group I.
Reflecting on his debut, Sibo was full of emotion and gratitude.
“An unforgettable day. All glory belong to Yahweh. There are no words to describe what I have experienced these past few days. THANK YOU to each and every one of you who has brought me here,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful adventure. I am proud and grateful for the welcome I have received from my teammates and my country. It is the best gift possible. Debut, victory, and one step closer to the World Cup,” he added.

The victory solidifies Ghana’s lead in Group I, where they now sit on 19 points after eight matches. Madagascar trail closely with 16 points, followed by the Comoros (15), Mali (12), Central African Republic (5), and bottom-placed Chad, who have just a single point.
The Black Stars will resume their qualification campaign in October, first travelling to face the Central African Republic before returning home to host Comoros in what promises to be a decisive final round of fixtures.
