Mohammed Kudus says his first goal for Tottenham Hotspur is just the beginning, promising to find the net more frequently after finally getting off the mark in Spurs’ hard-fought 2-1 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
The Ghanaian forward struck midway through the second half, his deflected effort sealing all three points for Thomas Frank’s men in what proved to be a gritty Premier League contest.
It was Kudus’s 10th outing since his £55 million summer switch from West Ham United, and he had already made his mark earlier in the match by setting up Mathys Tel’s opener before Leeds equalised through Noah Okafor.
Speaking to SpursPlay, Kudus said he always believed the breakthrough would come soon.
“It feels really good,” Kudus said. “Something I’ve been working on for the past month, to score my first (Tottenham) goal, and it will open doors for more to come. Sometimes it’s not about winning the first ball, it’s the reaction for the second ball and when I went inside, I just thought, ‘shoot in the corner’ and I’m so glad it went in.”

The win not only ended Leeds’ year-long unbeaten home run in the league but also underlined Tottenham’s growing resilience under Frank, who has transformed the side into one capable of grinding out results in difficult venues.
Kudus credited the team’s mental strength and intensity for the victory, insisting Spurs matched Leeds’ energy stride for stride.
“The game was less about tactics, it was about great determination and who wants it more because they were running and fighting for the ball,” he explained. We knew that we had to match their intensity. That’s what the game was about, and I think every one of us was on top to get the win. I love it, however the opponents want to play, we will definitely match up to that.”
With his first goal in Spurs colours finally on the board, Kudus looks poised to kick on and prove why the North London club made him one of their marquee signings of the summer.
