Medeama SC’s electric teenager Kelvin Nkrumah has taken one of the biggest steps of his young career after receiving a call-up to the Black Stars squad for their upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.

The 18-year-old winger has been one of the standout revelations of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, dazzling crowds with his blistering pace, slick dribbling, and fearless approach in the final third. His eye-catching form has finally earned national recognition, with head coach Otto Addo selecting him for the November doubleheader.

Osei Owusu finally breaks through as Addo calls him up for Ghana’s Asian tour

Nkrumah’s rise has been monitored closely by the Black Stars technical team, who are convinced the youngster has the quality and temperament to handle the demands of international football. His inclusion also highlights Medeama’s growing reputation for developing top-tier talent, as he joins teammate Prince Owusu on the trip to Asia.

Ghana will lock horns with Japan on Friday, November 14 at Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before taking on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18. The matches form part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

For Nkrumah, this call-up is more than an achievement; it’s a major opportunity to test himself against two of Asia’s strongest footballing nations while showcasing his abilities on a bigger stage. For Otto Addo, it’s another chance to assess fresh talent as the national team gears up for a demanding year ahead.

At just 18, Nkrumah’s breakthrough serves as a milestone moment in his blossoming career and a proud chapter for Medeama SC, who continue to nurture players ready for the highest level.
