Teenage forward Jerry Afriyie was on the scoresheet again, but his early strike could not prevent RAAL La Louvière from slipping to a 2-1 defeat away to reigning champions Union Saint-Gilloise in Round 24 of the Jupiler Pro League.
Ghanaian stars abroad: Goals, grit and game time across Europe and beyond
The 19-year-old Ghanaian, who continues to earn plaudits for his rapid development, made another start under head coach David Hubert and wasted no time making his presence felt. Afriyie struck inside the opening five minutes, giving the visitors a dream start and briefly silencing the home crowd.
However, Union SG responded with the composure expected of champions. Rob Schoofs levelled matters before the break, and Brazilian international Guilherme Smith completed the comeback in the second half to secure all three points and keep Union Saint-Gilloise perched at the summit of the table.

Afriyie, who joined RAAL on loan from Al Qadsiah last summer, remains one of the brightest young prospects in Ghanaian football and has been a standout performer for the Green-Whites this season.
The forward put in another energetic display and remained a constant threat before being withdrawn after 77 minutes for Cristian Makate.

Despite Afriyie’s fourth league goal of the campaign, the result compounds RAAL La Louvière’s struggles at the wrong end of the table. They remain 15th with 24 points, hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone, and now face another daunting test away to Anderlecht in their next outing.
