Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe has shed light on how a dream move to the English Premier League fell apart during the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old, who now plies his trade with French Ligue 1 outfit FC Metz, was close to sealing a switch to England earlier this year while still with Swedish side IF Elfsborg. However, the deal failed to materialize, forcing him to stay put until the summer.
“At Elfsborg, everything went well,” Yegbe told Flashscore. “The first year was great. I almost got a move to the Premier League in January, but it didn’t happen. Still, I told myself I’ll keep working. It’s all part of the process.”
Despite the setback, Yegbe’s consistency in Sweden continued to draw attention, ultimately earning him a four-year contract with Metz in July, one that runs through to 2029.
Since arriving in France, the Ghana international has quickly cemented his place in the heart of Metz’s defence, racking up eight Ligue 1 appearances so far this season.
Now settled and thriving in his new surroundings, Yegbe’s focus remains on maintaining his impressive form as he continues his upward trajectory in European football.
