The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reshaped the domestic football calendar to make room for the Black Stars’ decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash.
Following FIFA’s confirmation that Ghana’s Matchday 10 qualifier will be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 12 October 2025, the GFA has moved quickly to realign league fixtures, so the national team can take center stage without clashing with the Premier League program.
The shake-up involves a swap between Matchday 5 and Matchday 9 of the 2025/26 campaign:
Matchday 9 will now run from Friday, 10 October to Monday, 13 October 2025.
Matchday 5 has been shifted further down the calendar to the weekend of Friday, 7 November to Monday, 10 November 2025.

To minimize congestion and allow for broadcast flexibility, the GFA has also introduced venue-specific arrangements. Any club playing at home outside Accra during the revised Matchday 5 can opt to stage its game on Sunday, provided it is not already selected for live television.
On the other hand, clubs based in Accra that are drawn to host fixtures on Matchday 9 will play their games on Monday, 13 October 2025, a day after the Black Stars’ international assignment.

The association stressed that all clubs have already been notified of the calendar reshuffle and urged fans and stakeholders to take note of the adjusted Matchdays.
According to the GFA, the changes are intended to “maintain the integrity of the Premier League season while supporting Ghana’s participation in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and ensuring seamless television scheduling for fans across the country.”
