Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has opened up about the lingering emotions from the Black Stars’ recent struggles, insisting that the setbacks have only sharpened the team’s hunger to succeed.

Reflecting on the disappointment of the last Africa Cup of Nations, the Rennes centre-back admitted the hurt was shared deeply across both the fans and the dressing room.

“Missing AFCON wasn’t a disappointment for Ghanaians but even for the players,” Seidu revealed, stressing that the frustration has now become fuel for redemption.

The 25-year-old has endured his own battle, spending months out with a serious ACL injury that threatened to derail his career. But after a determined recovery and a steady return to action in Ligue 1, Seidu says he feels stronger, both physically and mentally, and ready to channel that resilience into Ghana’s World Cup push.

The Black Stars stand just four points away from securing a place at the 2026 tournament, and Seidu believes the mix of energy, youth, and collective belief within the squad can deliver.

“We must qualify for the World Cup,” he declared with conviction, underlining the pride that comes with representing a footballing giant like Ghana.

Seidu’s road back has been personal as much as professional. From the heartbreak of injury to the pain of AFCON failure, every obstacle has only deepened his resolve. Now, with World Cup qualification on the line, his focus is crystal clear: helping Ghana rise again on the global stage.
