Ghanaian football fans will be able to follow every moment of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government successfully secured broadcasting rights for the tournament through a combination of state backing and private fundraising support.
Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams made the announcement on Tuesday, May 12, during a ceremony in which GCB Bank presented a GH¢5 million contribution toward the Black Stars’ World Cup preparations.
According to the minister, the financial mobilisation campaign launched by the government has played a key role in ensuring that Ghanaians across the country will have access to live coverage of football’s biggest event.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” he said.

With preparations gathering momentum, Ghana are set to make their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and face a challenging group-stage campaign. The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
Ghana will begin their tournament journey against Panama in Toronto on June 17 before facing England on June 23. Their final group fixture comes against Croatia on June 27.
As part of their final preparations for the competition, the Black Stars are scheduled to play a series of international friendlies, starting with a showdown against Mexico later this month before wrapping up preparations with a clash against Wales on June 2.
