Asante Kotoko have agreed with Congolese centre-back Aristote Tamuzi to a two-year deal ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors confirmed the 27-year-old’s arrival on Friday after the defender successfully underwent and passed his medical examination in Kumasi, paving the way for him to become the latest addition to Eric Tinkler’s squad.
Tamuzi arrives from Congolese outfit AS New Soger, having previously enjoyed a stint in Eswatini where he built a reputation as a reliable and combative presence at the heart of the defence.
A physically imposing defender, Tamuzi offers Kotoko a blend of strength, defensive aggression and experience. His ability to compete aerially, impose himself in tackles and provide leadership at the back is expected to add another dimension to Tinkler’s defensive armoury.
His recent record also underlines his reliability, with Tamuzi accumulating more than 60 appearances across the last two seasons.

Following the completion of his transfer, the Congolese defender spoke of his excitement at joining one of Ghana’s most illustrious football institutions while acknowledging the considerable expectations attached to wearing the famous red jersey.
“Asante Kotoko is a historical club in Africa and Ghana, and I am delighted to be here. I am aware of the pressure, but we will work hard to please the supporters. I am here to work.”
Tamuzi’s recruitment forms part of Kotoko’s preparations for a season in which the Kumasi giants will be expected to mount a serious challenge for silverware.
The Porcupine Warriors are scheduled to open their 2026/27 league campaign on the road against newly promoted Debibi United, but their competitive preparations will begin with a heavyweight encounter against perennial rivals Hearts of Oak.

Kotoko will lock horns with the Phobians in the 2026 Democracy Cup at Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, providing Tinkler’s revamped squad with an early opportunity to test its readiness ahead of the new campaign.
