Former Dzamefe Commission of Inquiry member, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has delivered a scathing assessment of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, insisting the 48-year-old lacks the pedigree to handle Ghana’s senior national team.
Addo, who was reappointed in March 2024, has endured growing criticism after failing to steer Ghana to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. His struggles on the touchline prompted the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to strengthen the technical department with the addition of experienced German tactician and former AFCON-winning coach, Winfried Schäfer, as an advisor.
Foh-Amoaning, a respected lawyer and football analyst, believes the move is an admission that Addo is not up to the task. His frustrations came to the fore following Ghana’s unconvincing displays against Chad and Mali in the September international window of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
“Otto Addo is not fit for the Black Stars job,” Foh-Amoaning told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM. “He is a scout coach, learning on the job like doing National Service.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) knows this, and that is the reason why they have brought in Winfried Schäfer to improve the technical team’s quality,” he added.

Despite the criticism, Ghana still occupies top spot in Group I with 19 points and remains firmly in contention for a World Cup ticket.
The Black Stars will wrap up the qualifiers in October with crucial clashes against the Central African Republic and Comoros, fixtures that could define Addo’s fate as coach.
