Ghana’s former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has showered praise on the Black Stars after the national team secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars, four-time kings of African football, booked their ticket to next year’s global showpiece with a commanding performance on Sunday night at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result that saw them top Group I with an impressive 25 points.

In a heartfelt video message released soon after the final whistle, Dr. Bawumia celebrated the players and technical team for restoring Ghana to the pinnacle of world football.

“It’s FIFA World Cup number 5! Congratulations to Black Stars for qualifying Ghana to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We are Ghana! We are coming!” he declared.

His words echoed the nation’s collective pride and optimism as the Black Stars prepare for another shot on the world stage.

After a disappointing early exit at the 2022 edition in Qatar, head coach Otto Addo and his men will now aim to make a deeper run when the tournament kicks off across North America, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The 2026 appearance will be Ghana’s fifth at the FIFA World Cup, following memorable campaigns in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, a testament to the country’s enduring football heritage and unyielding ambition.
