Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has wasted no time taking a swipe at Kwara United counterpart Sanni Tunde after guiding the Porcupine Warriors past the Nigerian outfit in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko secured their passage to the second preliminary round with a narrow but decisive 1-0 triumph at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium on Sunday. The result, added to their 4-3 thriller from the first leg in Accra, saw the Ghanaians advance 5-3 on aggregate.
CAF Confederation Cup: Asante Kotoko unfazed by Wydad challenge
The lone goal in Abuja came from forward Hubert Gyau, who struck midway through the second half to extinguish any hopes of a Nigerian comeback. Tunde had boldly declared his men would overturn the first-leg deficit, but those words came back to haunt him.
Zito, never one to hold back, used his post-match interview to directly call out his opposite number.
“Kwara United’s coach, who doesn’t even have a licence, was talking nonsense when I beat him in Ghana,” Zito said.
“I taught him sense by beating him again today,” he added.

The Ghanaian giants, two-time winners of the CAF Champions League, will now turn their attention to a much sterner test against Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club.
Kotoko will first play host in Kumasi before bracing themselves for a challenging trip to Casablanca in October.
