Ghanaian attacker Kelvin Boateng got his name on the scoresheet, yet it did little to alter the outcome as Austria Vienna fell 3-1 to Red Bull Salzburg in a Bundesliga clash at the Generali Arena on Sunday.
The away side wasted no time asserting control. Rising Bosnian prospect Kerim Alajbegovic struck inside the opening three minutes, setting the tone with an early breakthrough.
Salzburg maintained their intensity and doubled their advantage before the half-hour mark, as Ivorian forward Karim Konate capped off a slick attacking sequence orchestrated by Alajbegovic.
After the interval, the hosts showed signs of life. Boateng provided a spark in the 61st minute, reacting sharply to a well-placed pass from Gambian defender Abubakar Barry and finishing confidently from close range to cut the deficit.
Any momentum Austria Vienna hoped to build was short-lived. Salzburg quickly reasserted their dominance, with seasoned attacker Karim Onisiwo restoring the two-goal margin and effectively putting the result beyond doubt.

Boatengโs effort marked his third league goal in 15 appearances this campaign, underlining his gradual progress and growing involvement at the top level.
In the Salzburg camp, young Ghanaian talent Edmund Baidoo was included in the matchday squad but did not feature, remaining on the bench for the duration of the encounter.
