Experienced Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew has called on Leicester City to quickly regroup as they prepare for their next Championship test against Charlton Athletic following last weekend’s disappointment at Preston North End.
The Foxes slipped to their first league defeat of the season, going down 2-1 at Deepdale in only their second outing of the campaign. Alfie Devine struck early for Preston, before youngster Jeremy Monga equalised for Leicester, but Milutin Osmajic’s late finish proved decisive.
Despite the setback, Ayew insists there is no panic within the camp, stressing that promotion remains the club’s clear objective.
“Of course, nobody enjoys losing, but it’s part of football,” the Ghanaian forward said in an interview with Leicester City. “We take the criticism on board, we keep working, and our target doesn’t change. The most important thing now is to react in the right way.”
Leicester’s trip to Charlton in the coming weekend offers an immediate chance to bounce back, and Ayew is urging his teammates to seize it.
“We have to be ready for Charlton,” he added. “Picking up points will help restore confidence, lift the fans, and put smiles back on faces. That’s the focus.”
Ayew, still searching for his first goal of the season, has started all two Championship fixtures so far and also featured in the Carabao Cup tie against Huddersfield, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat.
