Benjamin Asare delivered a commanding performance as Accra Hearts of Oak edged arch-rivals Asante Kotoko 1-0 in a pulsating Super Clash, prompting head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani to declare that the goalkeeper has already silenced any lingering doubts about his pedigree.
In a contest loaded with tension and history, it was a moment of precision that separated the two giants. Baba Adamu rose highest in the 13th minute, powering home a header that ultimately shattered Kotoko’s remarkable 21-game unbeaten home run in the Ghana Premier League.
But while Adamu’s early strike proved decisive, the narrative of the afternoon quickly shifted to Asare’s resilience.
Hearts were forced into survival mode after Emmanuel Amankwah’s dismissal left them a man down for over an hour. With Kotoko throwing numbers forward and the home crowd sensing vulnerability, Asare stood unflustered. He marshalled his defence, reacted sharply under pressure, and produced crucial stops to preserve the slender advantage.

The result pushes Hearts to 39 points, trimming the gap to league leaders Medeama SC to five and injecting fresh intrigue into the title chase.
Despite the acclaim and his Man of the Match recognition, Dramani was measured in his assessment of his goalkeeper’s display.
“I have nothing to describe about his performance,” Didi Dramani said to the press. “It is for us to continue to do things that will help us, things that will keep our players in better shape. He has nothing to prove to anyone – that he’s the number one of the Black Stars or Ghana’s number one. We just have to know how to manage him in terms of his workload. Sometimes we try to deload, and we have capable hands to do that as well. So, for me, that is the standard we’re expecting.”
For Dramani, the focus is not on validation but preservation, ensuring that a key figure remains sharp, protected, and primed for the decisive stretch of the campaign.
