Derby County delivered a statement performance at Pride Park, brushing aside Swansea City 2-0 in a result that further fuels their growing ambitions in the Championship promotion race.
At the centre of the Rams’ authoritative display was Patrick Agyemang, whose commanding presence up front proved decisive on the afternoon.
The American-Ghanaian striker led the line with conviction, power and relentless movement, ultimately sealing the victory with Derby’s second goal midway through the second half.

After a tightly contested first period, the breakthrough arrived shortly after the interval when Rhian Brewster opened the scoring to give the hosts momentum. From that moment, Derby looked increasingly assured, managing the tempo and punishing Swansea whenever spaces appeared.
Agyemang’s goal on 67 minutes effectively put the contest beyond doubt. Timing his run perfectly, he darted across the face of goal to meet a driven low delivery from Callum Elder, guiding the ball into the far corner with precision and composure. It was a striker’s finish, instinctive, sharp and clinical.
Beyond the goal, Agyemang’s influence was immense. He continually unsettled Swansea’s defensive unit, forcing them into desperate challenges as they struggled to cope with his strength and direct approach. Fouled five times, more than any other player on the pitch, he became a constant source of disruption.
His work rate without the ball was equally impressive. Winning 11 duels, the highest tally in the match, he provided Derby with a dependable outlet whenever they opted to play forward early. Time and again, he held up possession, drew defenders in, and allowed his teammates to push higher up the field.
While Swansea dominated large spells of possession, enjoying 72 percent of the ball, their control rarely translated into genuine threat. Derby’s defensive line remained compact and disciplined, cutting off central lanes and forcing the visitors wide. Between the posts, Josh Vickers offered calm assurance, ensuring the clean sheet was never seriously in danger.

Agyemang’s latest strike adds to what is shaping up to be a highly productive campaign. The forward has now featured 28 times in the 2025/26 Championship season, contributing 10 goals and three assists, numbers that underline his growing importance to Derby’s push for a top-six finish.
Attention now turns to another stern examination as Derby travel to face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday, February 21. With momentum building and confidence surging, the Rams will head into that encounter believing their promotion charge has real substance.
