Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul-Karim Zito has called on his squad to stay composed and focused following the exit of key forward Albert Amoah, who has joined Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi.

Amoah’s move to North Africa, a two-year deal completed soon after Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup elimination by Wydad Athletic Club, leaves a notable gap in the Porcupine Warriors’ attack. With the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season in full swing, Zito insists the team must now channel their energy toward finding new solutions up front.

Addressing the media ahead of Kotoko’s Matchday 8 fixture against Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium, the experienced tactician stressed that there is no room for sentiment.

“It’s all about attitude. Definitely, he is gone. There is no need to continue crying. We won’t get him back, so we are preparing the other players to take over,” Zito said.

The coach further urged his charges to seize the opportunity and prove their worth, highlighting that success will depend on the collective response of the team.

“It’s up to the players to also prove that they deserve to be there. We must continue with what we have to get what we want,” he added.

Kotoko will be hoping to rediscover their spark when they face Karela United on Sunday, with kick-off set for 15:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium.
