Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has brushed aside concerns over the club’s recent stalemate, insisting their quest for the Ghana Premier League crown is far from derailed.
The Porcupine Warriors were forced to settle for a share of the spoils on Sunday after a tightly contested Matchday 11 encounter with FC Samartex at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. Though the point keeps Kotoko sitting fourth on the log with 20 points, they remain firmly within reach of Aduana FC, who lead the table by just three points.
Speaking after the game, Zito was resolute about the club’s expectations and standards.
“Apart from being first, no other position suits Asante Kotoko,” he declared.
The coach admitted that home draws sting more than those on the road, noting the pressure it puts on his squad to snatch victories away from home.
“We are still chasing, and it is not too late. It only pains me when we draw at home because then I must go and win away to balance the home games,” he explained.
Despite the frustration, Kotoko still boast an enviable record, they remain the only unbeaten side in the 2025/26 campaign, a statistic that keeps optimism high within the camp.
With an outstanding fixture against Basake Holy Stars set for November 26, the Reds will look to regain momentum before a crunch home meeting with Medeama SC in Matchday 12 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
