According to exclusive information from Africafoot, Wydad Athletic Club has terminated the contract with Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng to allow the registration of its new recruit, Botswanian international Tumisang Orebonye, recently transferred from Libyan club Al-Ittihad.
This decision comes within the strict regulations imposed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), which limits the number of foreign players who can appear on each club’s roster to five.
It is reported that with the signing of Orebonye, Wydad reached the limit, forcing the management to make a strong choice in favor of the new striker. The club already has Bart Meijers, Guilherme Ferreira, Stephane Aziz Ki, and Thembinkosi Lorch on the squad.

According to Africafoot, the arrival of Orebonye, who signed a two-year contract with an option for another year, hastened Obeng’s departure.
Orebonye is well-known to the Moroccan public, having played for Olympique Khouribga and then FAR Rabat, before shining at USM Alger, with whom he won the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Super Cup.
Wydad now hopes to finalize the player’s administrative registration with the FRMF in time for him to be eligible for the start of the new campaign, as the club aims for an offensive revival under the leadership of its new coaching staff.
