Promising Ghanaian striker Sumaila Wasiu successfully completed trial period with the Belgium side KSC Lokeren, the club’s mead team confirms.
“After a successful trial period with a goal in the friendly match against Top Oss, Sumaila Wasiu has signed his contract with KSC Lokeren. We wish this promising player every success!” the statement concludes.
Just hours after his official unveiling, Ghanaian forward completed his debut for Belgian second-tier side KSC Lokeren on Saturday, in a 2-1 defeat to Patro Eisden.
Wasiu came on in the 77th minute for Belgian native Sebastiaan Brebels, but fell short in trying to save his new team from the defeat in the first match of the campaign.
The 21-year-old moved to Belgium on a free transfer after his contract with Spanish fifth-division team UD San Pedro has expired.
He is a former prospect of One World Football Academy. Before moving to Spain Wasiu played for Tudu Mighty Jets in Ghana Division One.
Wasiu is yet to debut for the senior national team as he prepares to attract attention by playing in the Belgian Challenger Pro League.
