Ghanaian full-back Tariq Lamptey has revealed the legend who shaped his style of play, crediting Brazilian icon Dani Alves as a major influence on his career.
Speaking during his presentation at Fiorentina, the 23-year-old right-back admitted that Alves’ remarkable career remains a reference point for him. Alves, now 42, is widely regarded as one of the greatest in his position, with a trophy cabinet that few players in football history can match.
“I draw inspiration from Dani Alves,” Lamptey stated. He went further to note that another Brazilian star had an even deeper impact on him: “I grew up watching him, but my idol is Ronaldinho.”

Lamptey arrived in Florence this summer after completing a switch from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, signing a four-year deal with La Viola. For the defender, joining the Italian outfit was not a difficult decision once their vision was explained.

“Every team is a different challenge, and it improves me as a player. Fiorentina has been following me since I was young, it’s beautiful,” he said, before stressing: “Yes, there were others but when Fiorentina explained their project to me, I didn’t think twice and wanted to come right away.”
The former Chelsea academy graduate has already made his Serie A bow, turning out for Fiorentina in their clash with Napoli last weekend, and he hopes to quickly establish himself as a cornerstone of the Viola’s ambitions.
