Russian powerhouse Spartak Moscow and Turkish side Fenerbahce have signed a deal for the transfer of Ghana national team defender Alexander Djiku, who agreed to a two-year contract.

“We warmly welcome the Ghanaian defender to Spartak, who will play for the red-and-whites under number 4, and wish him success!” stated in the capital of Russia.

Yesterday, on September, 8, 31-year-old centre-back helped Ghana national team to secure a victory over Mali in a tense Group I clash. His only goal enabled Black Stars to take a significant step toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Djiku is a product of French football. He came through the Bastia training system, from which he moved to Caen, and then to Strasbourg. It was in this club that Djiku began to play regularly in Ligue 1 (117 matches, 3 goals) and from there received a call-up to the Ghana national team.

Spartak’s newcomer was a participant in the World Cup in Qatar: he played two matches for the Black Stars at the tournament.

In 2023, Djiku became a Fenerbahce player. For the Istanbul club, he played 51 matches and scored 3 goals.
