Head coach Ibrahim Tanko has attributed Medeama SCโs narrow 2-1 loss to Dreams FC to a lack of urgency in the early stages, a lapse that ultimately proved decisive in their Ghana Premier League encounter.
The matchday 26 fixture at the Tuba Astroturf began on the wrong footing for the Tarkwa-based outfit, as Dreams FC seized control from the opening whistle and dictated proceedings. Medeama found themselves on the back foot for much of the first half, struggling to match their opponentsโ intensity and cohesion.
“We started very slowly, and Dreams FC were the better side in the opening 20 minutes,” Tanko said.
That early dominance translated into a lead for Dreams FC, forcing Medeama into a reactive approach for the remainder of the contest. Although the visitors gradually settled and began to find their rhythm, the damage had already been done.
After the break, Medeama returned with renewed purpose and composure, taking charge of possession and pushing forward with greater intent. Their improved display was rewarded with a well-taken goal, sparking hopes of a comeback.
“In the second half, we dominated play and scored a beautiful goal, but unfortunately, time was not on our side, and we ended up losing,” he added.
Despite their late surge, Medeama could not find the equalizer, leaving them to rue their sluggish start. The defeat has significant implications in the title race, as Bibiani GoldStars capitalized on the slip to climb to the top of the standings.
With the season entering a final phase and only eight matches left, Tanko emphasized the need for resilience and consistency as his side looks to stay in contention.
“Now our focus shifts to the next game. We must keep working hard and ensure we secure maximum points. We will prepare thoroughly and approach each one with determination,” he concluded.
Medeama now turn their attention to the upcoming fixtures, knowing that any further missteps could prove costly in an increasingly competitive title race.
