Head coach Frimpong Manso has voiced strong concerns over officiating after his Nations FC side suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League clash.

The encounter, staged at the Baba Yara Stadium, saw the hosts assert their dominance early and maintain control throughout much of the contest, ultimately sealing a convincing win.

Asante Kotoko’s breakthrough came midway through the first half when Albert Amoah rose highest to nod home, handing the Porcupine Warriors a deserved lead heading into halftime. The visitors struggled to recover momentum, and their resistance faded further in the closing moments.

Late strikes from skipper Samba O’Neil and Guinea international Morifing Donzo put the result beyond doubt, capping off a dominant display from Kotoko.

While acknowledging his team’s shortcomings, Manso pointed to key refereeing calls he believes tilted the balance further against his side.

“In the final ten minutes, the referee was bold to award two penalties to Asante Kotoko, yet overlooked a clear one for us,” he said.

“We lost 3-0, but the closing stages got away from us as we pushed forward in search of a goal. Our desire to score left us exposed, with too many players committing to attack. We accept the defeat, but the circumstances are difficult to ignore.”

The result lifts Kotoko into third place on the table, narrowing the gap to leaders Bibiani GoldStars to six points and keeping their title ambitions firmly alive with eight rounds still to play.

For Nations FC, the setback sees them slip to 11th position, with pressure mounting to rediscover form in the final stretch of the campaign.

Asante Kotoko will now turn their attention to an away trip against Aduana FC, while Nations FC prepare to host Berekum Chelsea in their next assignment.
