Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, kicked off their training programme in Vienna with a spirited session on Monday, as preparations gather momentum for Friday’s international friendly against Austria national team.

A total of 21 players reported for duty at the Vienna Football Campus, just a day after camp officially opened. The session blended recovery work and sharp tactical routines, ensuring a balanced start to the week.

Players who were in action for their respective clubs over the weekend were put through light recovery drills, while the rest of the squad engaged in structured tactical exercises and finishing sessions aimed at sharpening attacking efficiency.

Among those involved were Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Joseph Anang, Gideon Mensah, Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Antoine Semenyo, and Kamaldeen Sulemana, alongside several other invited players forming the core of the squad.

The group has since been strengthened by the arrival of deputy captain Thomas Partey, pushing the number in camp to 22. Additional reinforcements are expected, with Alexander Djiku and Kojo Oppong Peprah set to join the team shortly.

Preparations will intensify in the coming days as the team fine-tunes its approach for the encounter, scheduled to take place at the iconic Ernst Happel Stadion. Kickoff is set for 17:00 GMT.

The fixture serves as a crucial test for Ghana as they build towards the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, offering the technical team a valuable opportunity to assess form, cohesion, and tactical readiness against European opposition.
