Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium was rocking on Saturday as Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo delivered a standout display to guide the Cherries past Brighton with a 2-1 victory.
From the opening whistle, the Ghanaian forward looked like a man on a mission. Quick off the mark and sharp in possession, Semenyo turned provider first. His neat first touch and perfectly weighted layoff found Alex Scott in space just outside the box. The midfielder didn’t hesitate, rifling an unstoppable effort into the top corner in the 18th minute, setting the home fans alight.

Brighton, however, were never going to fold quietly. After halftime, Roberto De Zerbi’s side found their rhythm, and it was Kaoru Mitoma who pulled them level. The Japanese winger ghosted into the box and met Yankuba Minteh’s teasing cross with a precise header, silencing the Bournemouth faithful.
But the afternoon belonged to Semenyo. With the game finely balanced, he earned the chance to put Bournemouth back in front just past the hour mark. Facing goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic, the 24-year-old showed nerves of steel, rolling his penalty straight down the middle while Petrovic guessed wrong. The stadium erupted again as Semenyo wheeled away in celebration, netting his third league goal of the campaign.

Brighton pressed relentlessly in the closing stages, but Bournemouth’s backline stood tall, repelling wave after wave of attacks. Each clearance and interception was cheered like a goal, and when the final whistle blew, it was Semenyo’s name that rang around the stands.
The result hands Bournemouth a precious three points and further cements Semenyo’s growing influence in Andoni Iraola’s side. The Cherries now shift focus to a tough trip to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle on September 21.
