Prince Osei Owusu continued his encouraging start to the new Major League Soccer season, finding the back of the net for a second consecutive match, though CF Montreal fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat against Orlando City SC on Saturday night.

The Ghanaian forward produced a towering header in the 24th minute to pull the visitors level after rising above the Orlando defence at the Inter&Co Stadium. His well-timed leap and clinical finish briefly restored parity for Montreal after the home side had struck first.

Earlier in the contest, Duncan McGuire handed Orlando the lead in the 18th minute with a sharp finish that ignited the home crowd. Montreal’s response arrived six minutes later through Owusu’s emphatic header, but the momentum proved short-lived.

Just seven minutes after the equaliser, Argentine playmaker Martín Ojeda restored Orlando’s advantage, firing home in the 31st minute to ultimately settle the contest in favour of the hosts.

Owusu’s latest strike means the 29-year-old has now scored twice in his first four league outings this season. His maiden goal of the campaign arrived the previous week when Montreal secured an impressive 3-0 triumph over New York Red Bulls at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

The former Bundesliga striker remains one of Montreal’s most reliable attacking outlets after finishing last season as the club’s leading marksman with 13 league goals.

Owusu’s consistent form could strengthen his case for another international call-up, with Otto Addo expected to name his squad for Ghana’s upcoming friendly matches against Germany and Austria later this month.

The striker only recently broke into the senior national setup, earning his debut for the Black Stars in November 2025 during the Kirin Cup tournament. Since then, he has been working steadily to cement his place in the squad as Ghana build toward their next international assignments.
