Ghana boss Otto Addo believes the Black Stars are firmly on course to punch their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, though he’s urging calm and focus as the qualifying campaign heats up.

Sitting atop Group I with 15 points from six outings, Ghana are in pole position to claim their fifth World Cup berth. Yet, Addo is steering clear of complacency as his side prepares for a crucial doubleheader against Chad and Mali.

“We are in a good situation, and I hope that we can do everything to qualify. We have to take it step by step; we can’t make a mistake,” the 47-year-old tactician said, stressing the fine margins of tournament football.

Addo was also quick to temper the growing hype around his team’s position in the table.

“A lot of people are talking about the World Cup already, but it’s still a long way,” he cautioned.

The road ahead sees Ghana traveling to N’Djamena to meet Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on Thursday, September 4. Four days later, they’ll return to home turf at the Accra Sports Stadium to host Mali in front of what’s expected to be a packed crowd.

In preparation, the Black Stars will hold back-to-back training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium today and tomorrow morning before jetting out to Central Africa.
