Ghana head coach Otto Addo has welcomed an upcoming friendly against Germany as a vital benchmark for his team’s ambitions, describing the fixture as a rare and exciting chance to measure the Black Stars against elite opposition ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions will travel to Stuttgart on March 30 to take on the 2014 world champions in what is expected to be one of Ghana’s most demanding preparatory matches before the global showpiece next summer.

Addo believes the encounter offers more than just match fitness, stressing its importance in assessing Ghana’s competitive level on the world stage.
“This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world,” Addo said. “Germany are a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart.”
Historically, Germany have enjoyed the upper hand in meetings between the two nations. Ghana are yet to register a victory against the European giants, managing one draw and suffering two defeats in their three previous encounters. The heaviest setback dates back to April 14, 1993, when the Black Stars were overwhelmed 6-1 in an international friendly.
Beyond the Germany clash, Ghana’s attention is also firmly on the World Cup draw, where they have been placed in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia, another stern test that underlines the importance of facing top-tier opposition in the build-up.

For Addo and his squad, the Stuttgart showdown represents both a challenge and an opportunity to fine-tune their readiness, sharpen their competitive edge, and gauge how far they have come on the road to 2026.
