Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has put to rest all speculation surrounding Otto Addo’s future, confirming that the coach will stay on to lead the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The announcement comes amid divided public opinion following Ghana’s failure to reach the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations — their first missed AFCON in more than twenty years. The disappointment had cast doubt over Addo’s position, with many fans demanding a change in technical leadership.
But Addo managed to restore faith by steering Ghana through the World Cup qualifiers in impressive fashion, securing a spot at next summer’s tournament, which will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Despite that success, debate over his tenure has persisted. Yet Okraku, speaking on Asempa FM, gave an unequivocal endorsement of the Dortmund-trained tactician.
“Otto Addo is our coach. He qualified us for the World Cup in a grand style, and he will take Black Stars to the World Cup,” he stated confidently.
“In Qatar, we had a decent outing and the stats are there, but as a human, he will make mistakes, but he will stay, and he will lead the team to the World Cup,” he added.
The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stages will take place on December 5, when Ghana will find out who they face on football’s biggest stage.
